Bulletproof Green Tea

Making green tea properly is very important in keeping all the nutritious benefits. It’s also important for the taste. I’ve been drinking green tea for many years and it’s made a few evolutions. This recipe here is my favorite thus far and I’m so happy to share this with you.

Using the french press has always been best. If you have other methods of steeping your tea, than go ahead but I have found this to be easy and it seems to get the most out of the leaves.

Using filtered or spring water is always best in making tea. The taste is is much better than using tap water. Plus, it’s always best to drink filtered or spring water. Boiled the water and let it sit. You don’t want to use boiled water immediately onto the leaves. It kills the good antioxidants. It’s best to use water temperature around 170-196 F (80-90 C) depending on the type of green tea leaves you use. My preference is Organic Sencha leaves. I know, measuring the temp of the water seems a bit much so if you let it sit uncovered around 2-3 minutes after it’s boiled, that should be around that temp.

Use 2 teaspoons of leaves for 16 oz of tea. Put leaves in french press and pour the not too hot water into the press. Here’s the important part, let it sit for 30 seconds. Then push down the press and pull. Once the leaves settle which should be another 10 seconds, pour the tea into either a cup to drink it straight or into the blender for my energy green tea. Never let the tea steep for longer than 60 seconds. If you do, the taste is extremely bitter and it’s not good.

In the blender, use 1-2 tsps of ghee or grass-fed butter. 1 tbsp of Brain Octane Oil or MCT oil. 3 tbsps of unsweetened almond milk. Blend for 20-30 seconds.

There you have your perfect frothy Energy Green Tea.

Ingredients:

Filtered or Spring Water
2 tsps of Organic Sencha green tea leaves
1-2 tsps of ghee or grassfed butter
1 tbsp of Brain Octane Oil
3 tbsp of Unsweetened Almond Milk or Hemp Milk

Equipment:

French Press

Instructions:

Boil the water and let it sit for 2-3 minutes off heat. Put the leaves in the french press and pour the water. Let is steep for 30 seconds and then push down the press and pull. Once the leaves settle which should be around 10 seconds, either pour into the cup to drink straight or pour into the blender. Add the ghee, oil and milk and blend for 20-30 seconds. Serve and enjoy!

Bulletproof Coffee

One of my favorite drinks or sometimes breakfast is Bulletproof coffee. Gives me enough energy and fat to start the day. Butter in your coffee may seem weird to you but it’s just another version of cream and it all comes from cow’s milk anyhow. It’s better than cream or milk because butter has minimal amount of casein which is the protein that most of us are intolerant to and it causes all sorts of digestive issues and inflammation. Butter is amazing for you. It is high in vitamin A and D and has a high concentration of short-chain saturated fat butyric acid which is fuel for choice. It’s a healthy fat that we need for cellular function in our body and keeps the digestive system on track. Then there’s Brain Octane which is derived from coconut oil and produces ketones in your body that breaks down glucose and carbs and supports healthy digestion. It gives me focus and mental clarity to work all day. It’s another healthy fat. And remember, you need fat to burn fat!

Ingredients:

12-16 oz of organic high quality coffee or Bulletproof coffee (I prefer coffee made from a french press but this is your choice.)
1 tbsp of butter or ghee (You can adjust to 1-2 tsp based on your preference)
1 tbsp of Brain Octane or MCT Oil (Brain Octane is what I prefer and you can use 1-2 tsp. Your preference!)

Instructions:

Put all ingredients in blender and blend for 30 seconds. It blends into a delicious frothy and creamy drink.
